Henning is a native of Quincy, Illinois and began composing music for local television stations while in high school.  He holds degrees in music composition from DePauw and Northwestern Universities.

His awards include multiple Emmy nominations, the Gabriel Award, and a commercial Telly Award.  He lives in Brooklyn.
